I've been thinking long and hard about what to do with this space so stay tuned for something fabulous in the near future. Or not so fabulous, who knows.

Today is day 2 of Lent. Decided to give up coffee. I'm not completely addicted so it hasn't been too difficult, yet. But I've definitely gotten into the habit of drinking it every morning. I figure I'll try and nip it in the bud while I can.

My main reason for this blog is to tell you about this mega fabulous non-profit that my friend, Meredith, has started. It's called Cancer Rockstar. You can read more about it here. She was also featured in this article. I truly admire her dedication to this and being a huge music fan, I can definitely appreciate it. If you are on facebook, please become a "fan!"

Happy Thursday!

Hair today...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SkVR1ILcRFI/AAAAAAAAAEo/ksaAc2OAKq0/s320/DSC02483.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351773705370092626" />

GONE TOMORROW!!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SkVSLINpXrI/AAAAAAAAAEw/bY4PZe8FfDk/s320/DSC02485.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351774083336462002" />

After months of bitching about how I was so annoyed by my long, frizzy hair I finally got it chopped this past Saturday. I'm terrible about spending money for getting my hair cut (I know, what kind of girl am I? Not a very good one) so I set myself the deadline of June. It had to be done by then so that I could grow it out a bit before Yosemite in August. That and all that extra hair in the summer months gets a little hot. I also did it with the intention of donating for which will likely be the last time. Last time I gave to Locks of Love so per my friend Traci's recommendation, I thought this time I'd donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. Their acceptance minimum is less than Locks of Love so I didn't have to cut that much off or worry that I didn't get enough cut off. Once all was said and done, my donation length will be just under 10 inches.

How long did it take to grow my hair this long you may ask. It was the night of the Detroit fireworks in 2006, which generally take place the last or second to last week in June, when I last cut to donate. Seeing as how this year's fireworks were this past Wednesday that makes it 3 years! Well, give or take a few trims here and there.

Even though it's a pain in the arse to grow out my hair, I really do feel good about helping someone in other ways than monetary. Sometimes it's just the simple things you can do to really make a person's day, or life!

In Memory...

Many pieces of my childhood have died this week... quite literally. They always say deaths come in 3's...

First, Ed McMahon (3/6/1923-6/23/2009). Growing up, I LOVED Star Search. And really, what child of the 80s didn't dream of being on it?? I know I did!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SkTVSwGiJrI/AAAAAAAAAEY/GlKnoRf8ooY/s320/ed_mcmahon_1989.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351636775349659314" />

Next, Farrah Fawcett (2/2/1947-6/25/2009). Although I wasn't even born yet when Charlie's Angels was on TV, I will always remember her iconic poster that my dad had hanging in his work room when I was little. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it's still there.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 208px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SkTWUnBLy4I/AAAAAAAAAEg/Cw5lj6DHCzU/s320/farrahfawcettposter.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351637906782669698" />

Finally, the most shocking was Michael Jackson (8/29/1958-6/25/2009). I grew up with his music like every other child of the 80s (and 70s for that matter). I would include many songs from both Thriller and Bad in the soundtrack of my childhood. I remember my favorite video of his was "Billie Jean." I can vividly remember thinking it was so cool that as he was walking on the sidewalk, the squares would light up. Pretty sure I tried imitating this many times.

Here's a better version of the video, too.

Even later in life I have many memories of his music, especially learning and performing the dance for "Beat It" in my sorority's Winter Carnival skit (anyone have some of those pictures to share?).

As a local radio show host this morning said, when iconic people from your childhood die, it makes you feel a hell of a lot older. This is a very true statement!

R.I.P. Working in the advertising field and having been a marketing major in college, I'm actually the nerd that likes watching commercials (well, most of the time... I do get annoyed during REALLY good shows, and I must admit, the invention of DVR is such a time-saver!) & other advertising mediums. Knowing the tricks of the trade, I'm always a little skeptical when the newest, must have products/items come out. Obviously, nothing is really as good as it's advertised to be.

Here's the point of my initial "marketing magic" topic. Over the past 6 months or so, I've been seeing and hearing about the Acai Berry diet. It's shown up on my sidebar ads on facebook, anytime I search for healthy recipes and it's even showing up in grocery products. I think this all started when Oprah plugged them on her show (can anyone confirm this?). So today in my bi-weekly emails that I receive from Discovery Health's National Body Challenge (which have REALLY become useful in my latest diet craze), the subject line read, "Is Acai Berry Really The Secret to Weight Loss?" I thought, JACKPOT! Finally some answers to this nagging question I've had but have never really thought to research.

As you can tell from the article, no, it's not the miracle we've all been waiting for. As I've learned from much research (ok, reading Self magazine), by word of mouth and well, common sense, there is no miracle berry or supplement that allows you to take it then sit on your butt, eat 5 bags of Doritos and never go to the gym. It is not physically possible to lose weight (and keep it off) this way! Yet sadly, millions of Americans fall for this every day, otherwise, these companies would not be in business. Hence, the "Magic of Marketing!"

Until that day comes when I can lose weight and stay healthy by taking one little pill, guess I'll have to continue getting up at 5:00am and cutting back on the cookies.

Can't get this damn song out of my head!

While reading one of my favorite blogs, I came across the following song. Amazing what a little remixing can do to a song. Like getting it stuck in my head to the point that I'm craving some Taco Bell and Pizza Hut... major no-no on my said diet. Embarrassingly, I can probably recite every episode word for word, or pretty darn close (except the middle school ones, those didn't really count anyway). I remember spending many of college afternoons watching the reruns religiously. Until sometime last year, I was STILL watching it every morning while getting ready for work. I watch the news in the morning now. I guess we all have to grow up sometime.

Anyway, I just learned this week that Jimmy Fallon is trying to get a SBTB reunion together. Unfortunately, I can never stay up that late as my current bedtime is somewhere around 10 so I have to depend on the internet to catch me up.

For anyone who was ever a fan, the video below is awesome!

I'm really hoping that this said reunion happens! I really must say, it's going well! A LOT better than I thought. I even convinced my brother to join which halved my initiation fee... another plus for sure.

Now, some of you may not believe this but starting this week, I've been waking up at 5ish and going to the gym in the morning! It's really a great way to start the day. There's something rewarding about being up before the sun rises. Yes, this is coming from the girl who barely makes it out of bed in time to get to work. Pretty sure Dave is still in disbelief about it, but likes it because he feels like he gets to "sleep in."

Another benefit of early morning gym-ing is being able to relax when I get home from work instead of spending half the evening working out. Even though the weather was a little cool last night, Dave and I enjoyed a delicious (and healthy) patio dinner of grilled chicken (marinated overnight), corn on the cob and whole wheat pasta. Not to mention a nice glass (or bottle) of red wine! (And I REALLY shouldn't mention the piece of tiramisu cake we shared... oops!)

Next week I hope to add some tennis and rollerblading to my weekly routine and obviously continuing dog-walking. I can't completely forget about my furry little friend! Eventually I'll add in some racquetball since it was included for free in my gym membership for whatever reason...

Let's not hope all this hard work so far will go to waste this holiday weekend...!

LA Fitness's Newest Member

Happy Hump Day, all!

As I mentioned in my last blog, this past weekend was a busy and exciting one! Namely, my little bro, Philip graduated from Michigan State. I'm such a proud big sister!

Also, Dave and I went out to Grand Rapids to participate in the annual Fifth Third River Bank Run. Fun had by all. Dave did well in the 25k race finishing in just under 2hr 30min. Lily and I walked the 5k in 45 minutes. Oh yeah, and did I mention we did this in the POURING RAIN?!? Luckily for us all, it slowed down within about half an hour to 45 minutes so none of us had to finish completely drenched. ;)

Let me tell you, that 3 mile walk was painful for me the next day! I am certainly out of shape!

Due to the fact that we will be going to Yosemite in a little more than 3 months, I obviously need to get in shape. Unfortunately, even though I would love to (and save the money), I cannot run due to some stomach issues. Therefore, I have jumped back onto the gym bandwagon and ponied up the cash to join LA Fitness (as a friend calls it, French for "The Fitness" lol).

Day 1 went relatively well! I mostly wanted to acclimate myself to the equipment and get a feel for being at a gym again. I haven't belonged to a gym since I quit my YMCA membership a couple years ago.

I have high hopes for myself and am really looking forward to getting back in shape. If anyone is looking for a new gym to join, check it out! I would love a gym buddy!

Blog drought

Humm... I will freely admit that I have not always been a Spartan fan, but since my brother has attended the school and I have many friends that are quite the avid fans themselves, I have warmed up to the idea of really cheering on their athletics. It also helps that both their football and basketball teams have done very well this past season!

I also feel that this is quite the historic event. I mean, how often does Detroit have the honor of hosting the Final Four and Championship game, not to mention having a local team play in these finals? The fact that State made it all the way this year really helps out the state of Michigan's moral. Unfortunately I didn't get to make it downtown this past weekend, but from pictures I've seen and stories from friends that did make it down, the site was unreal! A sea of Green and White! Regardless of the outcome of tonight's game, I really hope that this will be a turning point for the city, as well as the state.

So tonight, whether or not you are a fan of MSU, show your support... not only for the team, but for the state that many of you call home! We need all the good vibes we can get! :)

P.S. GO TIGERS! Opening game is also tonight... 7:15 at the Toronto Blue Jays.

SPRING!!!

Welp, we've made it... through one of the D's coldest, snowiest winters in recent memory. I have a sneaky suspicion that we're not completely out of the cold yet, but today being the first day of Spring is a start!

With the start of Spring comes some very exciting things. The official start of baseball season, of course. GO TIGERS! My Easter trip to California is just around the corner, too. Haven't been out that way since end of 05/beginning of 06. Looking forward to that, A LOT!

And of course, can't forget warmer weather, flowers, BBQs, no more winter coats or shoes, etc.

Happy First Day of Spring!

Paczki Day 'Hangover'

Did I ever mention that I'm proud to be Polish? Well, if you don't know me well enough you wouldn't know that I grew up in Hamtramck which is the unofficial Polish capital of Michigan (well, at least it used to be). I was also a Polish dancer for 12 years and over those 12 years had learned at least 10 different regional dances of Poland. I still really enjoy Polka fests and Polkaing at weddings! Obviously if you never learned that the T in 'Jackie T' stands for Tomaszewski, you would find that it is a VERY Polish last name. And of course, a tradition I hold near and dear to my heart is Fat Tuesday, also known as PACZKI DAY!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 271px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SaVSMQBvuEI/AAAAAAAAADw/8vvaEEPQOQU/s320/paczki.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306738106340194370" />

Unfortunately, since I've moved from Hamtramck, it's not quite the same but I always make sure to stop home to pick up paczki to pass out to friends. This year I even brought some into work!

As a promise to myself, yesterday was my last splurge. Not only did it include paczki, but B-Dubbs and pizza. Today starts a new me! My ultimate goal is to make healthier choices in what I eat. It'll mostly start with cutting back on the junk. I've decided to give up potato chips for Lent as a way to help jumpstart this. I'm also cutting back on my beer consumption, except for St. Patrick's Day, of course!

I also need to start getting in shape for this summer's trip to Yosemite. Therefore, my short-term goal is to run a couple 10Ks in May.

So here it goes... wish me luck!

TGIF!!

Is it spring yet?!?

So yeah, I'm the world's worst blogger. Already broke my "New Years Resolution" of trying to blog once a week... yeah, not so much.

Not too much has been going on. Made a trip up to Houghton for my 9th Winter Carnival. Good times had by all. We stayed in this AWESOME cabin with 5 other couples. Hit up Double Bubble, Ambo, KBC, Dog, Bleachers... you know, the usual old haunts. Also got to see Gary play at the MUB and did some karaoke at the Green Light. Some pictures...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SZ7Guav2GgI/AAAAAAAAACY/FlSBkGz9Hl4/s320/Dave+and+Jackie+-+Carni.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304895911845304834" /> Dave and Jackie at the Ambo

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SZ7HvWlGTvI/AAAAAAAAACg/eihtQSymfac/s320/Jims+Food+Mart.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304897027417984754" /> Jim's! #1 store for all your Winter Carnival needs ;)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SZ7IQwJP-fI/AAAAAAAAACo/QBvJiLCeEIY/s320/GARY.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304897601216182770" /> It wouldn't be a trip to Houghton without a Gary show!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SZ7ImvY_4dI/AAAAAAAAACw/-SAqSSj1tYE/s320/StatueDS.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304897978970923474" /> The Delta Sigma Phi statue... one of few statue pics I got.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SZ7JHF-itfI/AAAAAAAAAC4/NDHUq3JIpqk/s320/ASTstatue.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304898534789789170" /> AST! Felt special to go ahead of the crowd. A co-worker gave me tickets that she wasn't going to use. No offense to the general public, but it was really nice not to have to crawl over children to see the cars I wanted to see!

Not a whole lot to say about it. Sooo much smaller than I had ever seen it. Lots of dead-space. Sorry I don't have any pictures either. I was lazy, lol.

Some highlights:

*The Ford display in general was great. Now, I may be a little biased since it's my job to "sell Ford" but, it's display was cool. Had a lot of interactive things. I always think it's cool to see vehicles cut in half, lol.
*The Chevy Volt was pretty neat. The product specialist was really knowledgeable, as they should be. Though they don't have a set price for it yet, they hope to have it available for under $40,000. Good to know.
*College for Creative Studies had a display. Don't recall ever seeing them there before. It was nice to see them integrating education into the show.
*I always enjoy the Mini-Cooper display. Not that I'd ever buy one, I just think they're cute, as most girls do. :)
*It was interesting to see a couple of the Chinese car companies there.
*Didn't see as many concepts as there had been in past years. Obviously, most concepts were electric vehicles. It'll be interesting to see the progression of the automotive industry in the next 10-15 years.

As I am in the market to buy/lease a new vehicle this year, it was somewhat helpful. I now have a couple ideas of what I want to look at.

Support the local economy and take a trip downtown for the Autoshow! Tickets are $12. Open to the general public this Saturday through next Sunday (the 25). Let me know your thoughts if you attend!

"Just a Dog"

Ok, ok. So it's been over a week. I was never one for keeping resolutions, lol.

Anyway, was just catching up on some old email forwards from my mom (you know how moms are :) and found this. She's very good at sending good ones about dogs and other animals that always seem to make my heart melt.

So to all my dog-loving friends, enjoy!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 309px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SWughqIiIEI/AAAAAAAAABo/Chulkqwocpo/s400/justadog.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5290498687382986818" />
Click to enlarge.

Also in catching up on my email forwards, I learned that expired pancake mix, brownie mix, anything that may contain yeast, etc. is bad for you. Even snopes.com confirms it, www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/pancake.asp. So if you get a chance today, sort through your pantry and throw out all expired bread-ish mixes. I'll get to those next decent day we have.

As a way of prolonging the season, if not just for a day, I thought I'd blog about the Christmas cookies I made this season! I was a little over ambitious, but it was fun!

First off, I made a couple batches of my easy fudge recipe (mentioned a couple months back). One batch with the white chocolate chips and the 2nd with chopped walnuts. It was a hit! Especially with the kids.

Next, I made a batch of Magic Bars (AKA 5-Layer Bars, or 7-Layer... I forget what the extra 2 layers are on the 7).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SWFnVMepHCI/AAAAAAAAABI/LDHJo6lcc9c/s320/DSC01696.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287621051334335522" />

Very easy recipe I got from a can of Eagle Brand Condensed Milk:

Magic Cookie Bars

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cut (1 stick) butter or margarine, melted
1 (14 oz) can Sweetened condensed milk (shh, don't tell Eagle Brand that I used the Target brand... it was cheaper!)
2 cups (12 oz)semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
1 cup chopped nuts (I used walnuts)

Preheat oven to 350 or 325 for glass baking pan. In small bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and butter; mix well. Press crumb mixture firmly on bottom of 13x9 baking pan. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture. Layer evenly with remaining ingredients; press down firmly with a fork.

Bake 25 min or until lightly browned. Cool. Cut into bars. Store leftover covered.

I would definitely recommend waiting to cut until completely cooled. At least 3 hours. I would also recommend storing in the refrigerator. I think they taste better cold.

As far as the traditional type of cookies, I got both the following recipes from a cookie cookbook that my mom and her friends put together:

www.traditionsbythedozen.com

First I did Snickerdoodles with colored sugars:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SWFn4aZRuqI/AAAAAAAAABQ/-WE5Ycy65FY/s320/DSC01691.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287621656365349538" />

Snickerdoodles

Red & Green decorator sugar
1 T. cinnamon
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
2 3/4 cup flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 350. In small bowl mix 1 1/2 tsp red decorator sugar along with 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon. Do the same with the green sugar in another bowl. Set aside.

In large bowl, cream together sugar, shortening, butter and eggs. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt, mixing well. Shape dough into 3/4-inch balls. Roll in cinnamon sugar mixture (I alternated colors for each). Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 - 10 minutes or until centers are almost set.

Makes about 6 dozen.

Lastly, I love cherries, and chocolate, so I thought I'd try these:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qgZ6SVklHpY/SWFoP_0gVkI/AAAAAAAAABY/L1lBqRehI0U/s320/DSC01732.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287622061548656194" />

Cherry Chocolate Cookies

1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 tsp maraschino cherry liquid
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350. In large bowl, combine powdered sugar, butter, cherry liquid and almond extract; blend well. Add flour and salt; mix well. Stir in cherries. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 - 12 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Let cookies cool thoroughly. Melt chocolate chips in strong plastic sandwich bag in microwave. Snip corner of bag and drizzle chocolate over cookies. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.

These turned out so cute! The only issue I ran into was after I added all dry ingredients, the batter didn't blend so well, it was all clumpy. But once I added the cherries it turned into a better consistency.

Hope you enjoy! Now it's time for my after-holiday diet. :)

Good bye 2008, Hello 2009!

Just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! I had a great time last night starting by a wonderful dinner out with my loving boyfriend and then celebrating with friends.

And yes, I am now also another year older! 27!?! Yikes...

I've never been one to make resolutions but I thought I could list a few ideas...

1. I like writing so I would like to blog a little more often. I'll start with at least one blog a week.
2. Growing up, I was always reading. I have kinda fallen off that bandwagon so I want to try and read more often. At least a book a month. It would also give me something to blog about and help resolution #1.
3. Finally, I need to start living a healthier lifestyle. It's become too easy to go out and pick up junk food instead of things that are good for me. I also need to get back into working out. This will start with actually getting a gym membership and walking the dog more often.

I kept my goals fairly easy so hopefully I can stick to them!

I wish everyone a wonderful and safe 2009!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Just wanted to wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!! This year it's in Hamtramck at Uncle Tom and Aunt Jo's.

Friday we head up to Roscommon for Dave's family Christmas. This year we are trying a White Elephant gift exchange. Hopefully it will turn out well! I just keep picturing "The Office" and the Yankee Swap episode, lol.

Unfortunately we'll be missing GLI this year. Bummer, I know, but I hope all in attendance have a great time! GO HUSKIES!!

Wherever you may be, I hope you all enjoy your holiday, that it is filled with time spent with family and friends, good food and cheer!

So Excited...

I'M GOING TO WINTER CARNIVAL '09!!!!

That's right, friends! Working in the "financial" side of things, this is one of our BUSIEST times of the year. EVERYONE wants their books closed, blah blah blah.

Anyway, you know what stressed is backwards, right? Yep, it's DESSERTS!! Therefore, I thought I would give you one of the EASIEST dessert recipes ever! Homemade fudge! It's one of my favorites that I remember making with my mom every Christmas. I've already made my first batch this past weekend and plan on making quite a few more.

MARBLED CHOCOLATE FUDGE

3 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 can of sweetened condensed milk - I've always used Eagle Brand, which is actually where the recipe is from...
Dash of salt
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 10 oz bag deluxe white chocolate baking pieces coarsely chopped or white chocolate chips (or other desired flavors)

Melt chips, condensed milk and salt in microwave on high for 3 minutes. Mix well. Stir in remaining ingredients just until blended. Spread into 9x9 inch pan lined with wax paper with just enough overlap to grab with both hands when fudge is set. Chill for 2 hours. Turn onto cutting board to cut. Store in refrigerator. Enjoy!

The best thing about this recipe is that you can try different varieties. Try milk chocolate chips instead of the semi-sweet. Mix in peanut butter chips, nuts or a fruit spread rather than white chocolate. Don't mix in anything at all. It's up to you! Also makes a great gift. A couple years ago I made some for everyone in the office and wrapped it up in holiday bags.

Hope you enjoy my stress-free dessert! Less than 2 weeks until Christmas break. Mostly b/c I've been too lazy. I have all these good ideas for blogs, like a fall themed one, one about a concert I went to, etc. Maybe I'll post them later but who knows.

However, lately it seems I only blog when I'm pissed about something. Those of you that know me well know that I'm a complainer. Always have been. I don't really have a problem voicing concerns or bitching about something that really pisses me off. Anyway, here's my story of the day.

I generally eat my breakfast once I get to work. One of my current breakfasts of choice is toast with butter/margarine. Instead of bringing some in everyday, I decided to keep a small little tub here for myself. Key word here, myself. I put my initials on it and kept it in one of the two community refrigerators on my floor. Well, over the past few weeks, I've noticed that I wasn't the only person using it. Not a big deal. I'll be the first to admit, if I forgot something that's pivotal to my own lunch/breakfast (i.e. salad dressing, mustard, etc), chances are, someone will have something in the fridge that I can use, that one time. They won't miss the tiny bit out of their own and I'll remember to bring my own next time. However, when I got the butter out of the fridge this morning, there was NONE left! This a-hole(s) had completely used it all!! Who does that?!? I lived in sorority house with 15+ girls, all college students and NEVER had that happen. Don't you think in the working world that people could afford their own little tub of butter?

I wish I could hire this guy...

Follow-up to yesterday...

This isn't necessarily a klutz factor which is why I'm not classifying it as so.

This is just not a good week for me and pants. Amazingly *knock on wood* I have never broken a bone due to my curse. I hope to keep it that way.

However, I thought it would be fun to keep track of all the klutzy things I do. Today will be my first.

So, working in media is sometimes pretty awesome. You get free stuff. Today, one of our vendors is here giving out free massages and smoothies. You best believe I took advantage of both.

I've been kind of out it all day... I had a flu shot yesterday, was out late concerting and birthday partying it up (Happy Birthday, Christina!) and I had a FULL cup of regular coffee when I normally only drink half regular/half decaf. So on top of being out of it I'm also very jittery. The massage, tho it felt good, really didn't help my case either.

So I'm at my desk, drinking my free smoothie and sure enough, my hand misses the desk and I dump half of it on my pants, all over my desk, chair and floor. Yep. Now I have to go to Subway with a large pink wet spot on my khakis. Luckily I didn't spill it on my crotch. Guess that's the bright side?

Election Day!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Election Day! Two in one day!

Anywho... I've been reading some friends' blogs and learned that they actually can be a lot of fun! Who woulda thought?? I actually thought a lot about it on my way home from work (this is when I do some of my best thinking!). I guess I've always had this preconceived notion about blogs. Either that they're for people with families to keep their family and friends updated on how the kids are doing, or people that live in far off places where they don't get to see their loved ones regularly. Mostly, I thought blogs were for people who had something to say about specific topics... whether it be politics (which I am not one to discuss), religion, really really deep thoughts or show off their stellar writing skills. I do like to write but am not generally profound.

Here are some things I do like...

Music and movies, greeting cards, dogs, baking, beer, baseball (especially the TIGERS), hot dogs, bonfires, nature, "Up North," lakes, Sharpie markers, reading, turtles, Michigan Tech, da U.P., eh?, hot tea, memories, photos, stupid humor, laughing (lots), autumn, wine, pizza, cheese, fried twinkies... the list goes on!

I guess I'd be more likely to write about my likes and interests which some people prolly wouldn't find as interesting but who cares. This is all about me, right? RIGHT! Just thought I'd throw something out there and share random thoughts when I have them. OK, who I am I kidding? I have random thoughts all the time! However, unlike most in my generation, I am a little behind in the times. I do not have a phone with internet capabilities! *GASP!* Right, no iPhone, no Blackberry... what can I say? I'm a simple girl with simple needs.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is that I have my most random, insightful, etc. thoughts when I am away from a computer. By the time I get to a computer, I lose whatever "bright ideas" I came up with.

Oh well. Read if you want but I can't promise anything. Who knows, maybe someday I'll travel to far off places and actually have interesting things to talk about. But until then, don't hold your breath.
